2027 Benefit Information

The State Health Plan Board of Trustees recently voted on several important benefit changes impacting all members during its July 10, 2026 meeting.

Here is a breakdown of the decisions made:

• Approved Preferred Provider contracts with UNC Health and Novant Health effective Jan. 1, 2027. This impacts members enrolled in the Standard and Plus PPO Plans in addition to Medicare members in the 70/30 Plan. 
• Approved 2027 premium rates for all members.

• Approved 2027 benefit changes, including some decreased copays associated with parts of the new tiered provider network. Medicare Advantage Plan changes were voted on in June.

• Approved the contract award for Third-Party Administrative (TPA) Services to Blue Cross NC, effective Jan. 1, 2028. 
• Approved the contract award for Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) for Blue Cross NC, effective Jan. 1, 2028.

Open Enrollment will be held later this fall and additional information will be sent to all members prior to Open Enrollment.
