Folwell, CPA, announced March 13, 2020, that the State Health Plan Board of Trustees authorized the Treasurer and executive administrator to take actions within their authority to preemptively address and quickly respond to COVID-19 for the benefit of Plan members without consultation with the Board. | State Health Plan Awards Medicare Advantage Plan Contract to Humana |
State Treasurer Dale R. Folwell, CPA, and the State Health Plan have announced that Humana has been awarded the contract for its Medicare Advantage Plan. The contract will provide Medicare Advantage products to the Plan’s Medicare-eligible members with services starting January 1, 2021.

| Attention State Health Plan UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage Members |
This week, media outlets have reported that various anesthesiologists affiliated with American Anesthesiology of North Carolina, the Mednax-affiliated provider of anesthesia, pain management and critical care in the Triangle, will no longer be in-network under UnitedHealthcare. This does not impact members on the State Health Plan's UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage Plans.

| Looking for Information Regarding the Tobacco Attestation? | During the 2020 Open Enrollment period, which was held this past November, active employees and non-Medicare retirees could reduce their monthly premiums by completing the tobacco attestation through the online enrollment process in eBenefits. Outside of Open Enrollment, there is not an opportunity to complete this activity unless you are a new employee. |
